Our Mission

Cathy's Place is a 501 (c)(3) organization based in the State of South Dakota. Honoring a legacy of love, compassion, inclusion and generosity, Cathy's Place seeks to provide hope for individuals, families and communities in need of a helping hand. 

Focusing on school should be the only priority of students. Unfortunately, many students and their families are burdened with “lunch debt”. Some school districts have even taken to "shaming" students with unpaid lunch bills. This is unacceptable! For many of these youth, school meals will be the only source of food they will receive that entire day. Sadly, some of these students will eat their last meal during school lunch and will go hungry until the next day when they eat breakfast at school. We also know that when students go hungry, their focus, energy levels, cognitive abilities and over all wellbeing are significantly impacted.
